A busy start to Year 6
Year 6 have had a very busy beginning to this school year.
In Numeracy we have been exploring place value and measure. We enjoy the practical side of Numeracy, especially the measuring activities we completed through our capacity topic.
In Literacy we have been focusing on Michael Morpurgo and poetry. We have read so many different types of poems and we have been busy writing our own poems. Our poems have a spooky theme and we have entered a ‘Poetry Monsters’ poetry competition!
Our topic this term is Eco-Warriors and we have been exploring types of renewable and non-renewable energy. We participated in a Climate Change strike initiated by Greta Thunberg.
We have begun a six week block of Irish lessons with Mrs McKenna funded by Mid-Ulster District Council. Year 6 are having so much fun!
In ICT we have been developing our computational thinking skills. We explored what an algorithm is and created our own algorithms using Lego.
