Breaking the code in Year 4!
Another fantastic Shared Education visit today learning about Morse Code. The Year 4 children went to visit Castledawson Primary School today and were enthralled from the moment Mr Noel Evans began to speak. Noel is a retired electrical engineer with a wealth of knowledge about how information and messages were passed during war times. He had a wonderful way with the kids and taught them so much about Morse code. He explained to the children that it is a system of sending messages by a series of on-off tones, lights or clicks. Each letter is represented by a unique series of short dots (dits) and longer dashes (dahs). The children were all given a chance to experiment by typing their name and messages to each other. We may have future code breakers in Year 4!
