Year 7 Shared Education
Year 7 have thoroughly enjoyed working in partnership with Castledawson Primary School. Together we have been exploring the World Around Us topic of 'Titanic'. We have participated in various reading, writing and talking and listening activities.
In groups we planned and wrote a diary entry from the prospective of various people who sailed to New York on board the Titanic; 'A day in the life of....'. We enjoyed listening to other diary entries and sharing our own with everyone. We used a success criteria checklist to remind us of what we should include. We then used this check list as an assessment tool to assess areas of strength and to identify any areas on which we could improve upon.
We also took part in a court case debate where we researched and debated who was to blame for the sinking of the Titanic ship and the disasterous aftermath. We look at people such as Thomas Andrews - the architect; Bruce Ismay - a partner in the company White Star Line, Captain Edward Smith - Captain onboard the ship to name a few. We came to the conclusion that there was a combination of factors which ultimately led to the disaster. This was so much fun and a great lesson to end our Shared Education lessons for Term 3!
